Exciting news!

The SSLSJ is proud to invite you to join us for a public debate on the LLB degree, the transformative requirements thereof under the Constitution, and the technical requirements of legal practice. Justice Yvonne Mokgoro will be addressing us on the Constitution and its transformative mandate, while Professor Anton Fagan will be discussing his views on the effect of the Constitution on private law (controversial and engaging views as always!) and Advocate Geoff Budlender will be looking at the requirements of the profession and the LLB's preparation for practice.

The discussion will take place in the quad at Kramer from 10am until approximately 12pm on Friday the 1st of August, with short presentations by each speaker and then extended time for questions from the floor. As students of the LLB I hope you will all be there with questions and comments for discussion! Transport from UWC will be provided.

In other news the Social Justice Coalition is hosting a rally for democracy in Zimbabwe at 5:30 on Thursday the 31st of July (this Thursday) at St George's Cathedral. Zackie Achmat and other engaged and engaging speakers will address the crowd. Come and show your solidarity with Zimbabweans in their struggle for democracy. Attached is an official info sheet for further circulation.

Thank you!

Emma
